Deeplink: Our New Technology to Increase Your Conversion Rates

We are super proud to announce our newest technical innovation that will increase your conversion rates and boost your podcast! 🥳

We gave it the super cool name, “Deeplink.” 😎

To understand why this technology is so awesome, you have to understand a little bit of the nitty gritty details of podcast marketing. So we’re going to explain it to you!

What is a Conversion Rate?

In the world of podcast marketing, there is something called a conversion rate. It is how many people see your promotion and actually listen to one of your episodes. You convert them from a non-listener to a listener. 😐 ➡️ 😍

This is one of the most important measurements of successful podcast marketing. The goal is to always increase conversion rates! 📈

What is a Listener Path?

One of the keys to achieving high conversion rates is a short listener path.

A listener path is the path a potential listener takes from seeing your promotion to actually listening to an episode. The path is made up of action steps. 🥾🥾🥾

You want the listener path to be as short as possible— at each step you could lose a potential listener because they decide not to make that click or scroll down that page. 😅

Deeplink

Ok, now that you know what “conversion rate” and “listener path” mean, you are going to see why we are so pumped about Deeplink. First we will describe the specific problem it addresses. Then we will explain how it is the perfect solution!

The problem

A 2022 Edison Research report stated that 80% of people who click on a promotion will listen to a different episode than the one the promoter intended. 👀

That is because, by default, when listeners click on links shared by podcasters, they are taken to an overview page that lists all currently published episodes. They have to scroll down the page, often randomly choosing an episode.

That is 3 separate action steps that a potential listener has to take for a conversion: Click link, scroll down page, and click an episode. Even if they do take all those actions, they usually don’t even listen to the target episode! 😳

Our solution

Our team developed a new Deeplink algorithm that regularly runs specialized searches on the four major podcast directories: Apple Podcast, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and YouTube, to see if the target episode link is available. 🕵

Through a method called a “looping system of attempts,” the algorithm is persistent and smart because as long as the link is not published, it tries again, increasing the time between each attempt.

Because of this new Deeplink technology, when a potential listener clicks on the promotion’s link, they are directed straight to the episode. No scrolling. No decision fatigue in picking an episode. 🤩

You know what that means: Shorter listener path and higher conversion rate! Victory! 💃

By the way, although the tool is automated, we do provide you with the opportunity to manually make changes. You can add a link from a podcast directory other than the four major ones, or modify an episode link that the algorithm automatically pulled.

And tadaaam, the Deeplink an episode for our podcast “Tips – How to grow your podcast” looks like this. Try it now!
