The New Podcast Trend: The Foodcast

Podcast topics follow trends and every month, we take a closer look at the latest buzz. The hot topic at the moment? The foodcast: as you might have guessed, podcasts about food. What are they? What are their networks? Get ready for an overview of these podcasts that’ll make your mouth water.

Hearing is not really the first thing that we associate with cooking and its practice. However, as of the start of this year, audio content from major suppliers appears to be popping up all over the place, and that’s right, it’s podcasts that deal with food.

Why is a foodcast cool?

Food is life. Everyone knows that so, talking about cooking is both a broad and universal subject that can be discussed for hours (try talking about Hawaiian pizza with friends). In addition to having tons of themes at your fingertips (cocktails, family recipes, sushi, etc.), food podcasts offer the opportunity to create an entirely separate concept: recording in a supermarket while doing the weekly shop, talking to sellers in the markets or keeping warm and toasty in front of the stove, there are plenty of ideas to surprise listeners.

How to record my cooking podcast

Remember to capture the atmosphere around you in order to highlight the best of sounds such as meat sizzling on the grill or onions being speedily sliced. To do so, make sure that you arm yourself with an ambient microphone.

Decided to test out a couple of restaurants? Think about equipping yourself with portable equipment.

Bon appétit, baby!

Here’s a selection of podcasts to tickle your taste buds as well as your eardrums:
